1. Consumer Health Data We Collect
REIA is a professional association, not a health service provider. However, we may receive information that falls under the broad legal definition of Consumer Health Data when you voluntarily provide it to us, including:
- Health Status Information: Information you share regarding an illness, injury, or medical absence.
- Accessibility and Accommodation Data: Information regarding physical disabilities or health conditions provided when you request special accommodations for our meetings or events.
2. Sources of Consumer Health Data
We collect this data directly from you when you communicate with us via the "Contact Us" link on our website, via forums and profiles, including the Business Associates Directory, on our website, or via email, text, or phone. We may also collect information that you voluntarily provide to our staff, volunteer or paid, or instructors during live events, discussion groups included, or webinars.
3. Purpose of Collection and Use
We use this information strictly to:
- Provide requested event accommodations to ensure accessibility.
- Respond to questions pertaining to ADA-compliant facilities.
- Manage communications including but not limited to event registration cancellations regarding illness, injury or other health concern and provide administrative support.
- We do not use this data for marketing, profiling, or automated "inferences," and we never sell your Consumer Health Data
4. Sharing of Consumer Health Data
To provide our services, we share categories of Consumer Health Data with the following third parties ("Processors") and specific Affiliates:
- Website Hosting Providers: Our digital infrastructure hosts the data you submit via website forms.
- Email and Communication Service Provider Platforms store and process your incoming and outgoing messages.
- Venue Partners: We may share specific accommodation needs with venue staff of any meeting place strictly to ensure requested accessibility is provided.
- Affiliates: REIA has several branded Chapters that are part of the same legal entity. Resultantly, REIA does not currently share consumer health data with any specific affiliates.
5. Your Rights and How to Exercise Them
Under Washington law, you have the right to access, confirm, or delete your Consumer Health Data.
To exercise these rights, please email info@REIAwa.com with the subject line "Health Privacy Request." We will respond within 45 days.
Appeals Process: You have the right to appeal any denial of these requests by contacting us at the same email address, which is info@REIAwa.com. We will provide a written explanation of any decision to deny an appeal within 45 days. If your appeal is unsuccessful, you may raise a concern or lodge a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General at www.atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
